Mounting the CD-ROM on Unix (or VMS) Systems


The CD-ROM is written to ISO-9660 standards with all internal hypertext links in uppercase. In order to mount the CD-ROM under Unix, various options must be used depending on the specific Unix operating system in use. Tried and tested examples are given below:

Red Hat Linux v5.2
------------------
mount -o check=relaxed /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom  (as root user)
 
Alpha VMS v6.2
--------------
$ MOUNT DKA400 SPACE_GROUPS (as SYSTEM user)
%MOUNT-I-WRITELOCK, volume is write locked
%MOUNT-I-CDROM_ISO, SPACE_GROUPS: (1 of 1) , mounted on  _ALPHA$DKA400:
