The symmetry constraint with tetragonal lattice is an axis of order 4 along the c-direction which constrains all of the unit-cell angles to 90° and constrains the unit-cell lengths so that a = b. Conventional choice of unit cell results in either primitive or body-centred lattices, but these can be enlarged to C-face centred or all-face centred, respectively, by choosing a larger unit cell.
